Still no Carousel (sigh).  It’s looking much better than last year, though—not nearly as many recent repeats as usual, and the Muny debuts of Legally Blonde and The Little Mermaid should be great. Also, there are some excellent classics—I’m especially excited about Kiss Me, Kate.

Still, I wonder why certain classics get played over and over at the Muny and others get overlooked.  It’s an annual mystery for me, and I will continue to vote for Carousel until the Powers That Be at the Muny finally listen.  The last time it was performed at the Muny was 1988.  That’s way too long when other Rodgers and Hammerstein standards like Oklahoma! and The Sound of Music get repeated all too often.  Oh, well.  It’s really a small complaint—this schedule is really looking promising.  I’m almost tempted to ask for season tickets for Christmas.  Good job, Muny! You get an A- from me.
